How to Share Your Artwork on Instagram

Post your artwork to Instagram and use hashtags.

The free Instagram app is designed for taking, editing, and sharing images on mobile phones and tablets.

Following are 2 options for sharing your artwork images to Instagram.

NOTE: You will need to have the Instagram app installed.

Option 1

If your images are shared between all your devices in iCloud, you can use your mobile device to access all your photos and upload to Instagram no matter what device was used to take the original photograph.

  • go to the photo library on your phone
  • click the Share icon
  • click the Instagram icon (you may have to click on More to turn Instagram on)

  • follow the prompts to share the image

Using this method you will not be able to add filters or make any additional edits to the image inside the instagram app.

Option 2

Share images from your website to Instagram using a mobile device.

  • go to your website
  • find the image (tap on image to open it on it's own page - not just from the collection overview page)
  • tap image
  • tap on Save Image  (image will save to your Photo Library)
  • open the Instagram app
  • click the + icon (see screenshot below)
  • click Library (or Gallery) - this will bring up pictures you have saved
  • tap on the image you want to share
  • complete the sharing procedure via Instagram

Add Website url

We recommend that you add your website's URL to your Instagram profile so people can find your site from Instagram

Add text

Adding text (in the 'Write a caption...' field) and some relative hashtags to each image you post are very helpful in getting the image seen by more people.

Hashtags

Hashtags (added to the 'Write a caption...' field) are one of Instagram's main features. These tags categorize your photo, allowing other people to find your image when they're looking at that topic. Hashtags are single words or phrases combined into one word.

Hashtag examples:

  • #art
  • #selfportraits
  • #stilllife
  • #stilllifes
  • #stilllifeinoil
  • #landscapes
  • #abstractart
  • #mixedmedia
  • #paintings
  • #fineart
  • #artwork
  • #portraits
  • #oilpaintings
  • #impressionism
