FASO provides a message, in red, in the cart when a painting is also in another collector's cart. This is intended both to encourage people to purchase and to alert them that they might not get the piece if they are not the first one to complete the purchase.

The message will auto update, meaning if one of the people removes the item from their cart, the message will disappear in the other carts.
The cart also automatically removes an item if it is an original and it is sold.
So how are duplicate sales made?
1. When someone purchases an original, marking the piece as Sold isn't instantaneous.
Duplicate sales happen when two collector's purchase the same painting in very close proximity in time, meaning they checked out at almost the exact same time.
OR
2. Perhaps you have not set up you Paypal IPN setup correctly so our system didn't mark it sold.
OR
3. "Automatically mark originals sold" was not set up or it was disabled.
Bottom line is that we can't prevent this 100% from happening .
One solution we recommend is to enable STRIPE and disable Paypal. Stripe will mark paintings sold much faster and more reliably since it all happens internally in our system.
In a Paypal sale, we are dependent on when Paypal sends the IPN webhook and that it is sent with no issues or problems.
The Paypal IPN hook is extremely finicky about all the settings and sometimes is delayed for a while.
So while it can still happen with the Stripe setup, at least the chance is reduced.
